Microsoft™ Dynamics™ SL’s open period paradigm allows businesses to operate freely without the need for regiment month end closing procedures. This flexibility can create a dilemma for financial controllers when they have reported financial results and reported balances are adjusted. Renown’s Period Locking allows the Financial Controller to lock periods and prevent reported balances from being adjusted without approval. Periods can be Locked and Unlocked to control the periods that batches can be released to within each module.  Batches can be entered for locked periods, but can not be released until the Period is Unlocked. Key features include:

• Batches can be entered but not released for Locked Periods.
• Periods can be Locked and Unlocked as often as required.
• The Period to Post field can have Period Locking warnings applied.
• Periods can be Locked independently for each Dynamics SL module.
• Individual Users can be configured to override Period Locks for selected screens.
• Period Close will automatically Lock the closed period and open the new period.
• Date locking can be activated for Entered/Invoice date fields .

Warnings have been added to the Period to Post field to highlight when periods are locked for the applicable module. When a batch is entered for a locked period it will not be possible to set the Handling for the batch to 'Release Now'.  For batches that are set to 'Release Later' it will not be possible to release the batches in 'Release ## Batches' where the batch period remains locked.



Access Rights Maintenance (95.270.00) has been customised to enable Users or Groups to be granted rights to override (ignore) Period Locking controls.  This enables a financial control to make adjustments to locked periods for specific processing screens.
